What is a Health and Safety Policy template?
Well, it’s an empty Health and Safety policy which you can fill in and use for your business. Once filled in, it becomes a written statement by you (the employer) that communicates your company’s commitment to the protection of the health and safety of your employees. That’s a very good thing, right?
If you have 5 or more employees, then it’s a legal requirement that you have one. Even if you have fewer than 5 people working for you, the HSE consider it a useful policy to have written down. If the HSE consider it useful, then so do we!
Under the HSWA, the most senior person is responsible for ensuring the Health & Safety policy is communicated to all employees. The statement of intent will give information on how the policy is to be communicated. Your policy must be signed.
It doesn’t need to be huge, complicated or difficult to create. However, it still needs to be written up.
